Armenia challenges Ukraine’s complaint over Futsal Championship incident
The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) has sent a response letter to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) regarding a complaint filed by the Ukrainian Association of Football against Armenia national team player Denis Nevedrov, the federation’s press service said, as reported by Sport-Express.
The group-stage match of the European Futsal Championship between Armenia and Ukraine took place on January 22 and ended with a 2–1 victory for the Armenian team. Following the match, the Ukrainian Association of Football announced that it had appealed to UEFA, accusing Nevedrov of making a public offensive statement and violating the organization’s disciplinary code. Later, the Tribuna portal reported that disciplinary proceedings had been opened against the player.
The FFA said it considers the Ukrainian side’s claims to be unfounded. In its statement, the Armenian federation noted that its letter to UEFA outlined its version of the events that occurred before and during the match and included relevant remarks. Further details are expected to be disclosed later.
Nevedrov is 31 years old. He was born in Russia, obtained Armenian citizenship in 2021, and has since played for the national team. At club level, he represents Tyumen.
The European Futsal Championship is being held in Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia and will conclude on February 7.
