Armenia, EU explore defence cooperation in Brussels
Armenia and the European Union have discussed prospects for closer cooperation in defence and security.
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan, on an official visit to Brussels, met with Olof Skoug, Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs at the EU External Action Service, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
According to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the officials exchanged views on the ambitious agenda between Armenia and the EU and stressed the importance of a dynamic partnership.
They also discussed collaboration within international organisations and ways to deepen ties.
The ministry said the talks included sectoral cooperation in defence and security, as well as coordination on hybrid threats. Regional and international issues of mutual interest were also addressed.
During the meeting, Abisoghomonyan highlighted agreements reached in Washington on August 8, underlining their significance for unlocking transport infrastructure in the region.
