Armenia, Georgia launch train service between Yerevan, Batumi
Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan international passenger train will start operating on June 14.
Recently, the representatives of the Armenian company "South Caucasus Railway" met with the members of "Georgian Railway" in Yerevan and discussed cooperation issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing Sputnik Georgia.
The train will run with a frequency of once every two days. The Yerevan-Tbilisi-Yerevan route will be cancelled during the summer schedule, the company said.
Besides, the sides discussed the results of the cooperation of South Caucasus Railway Company and Georgian Railway Company during 5 months of 2023, issues of running container trains in international connections, improvement of tariff policy in international connections and development of new software for selling travel documents.
The company also reported that in 2022, 451,000 tons of cargo were imported to Armenia by rail in transit through Georgia, the volume of cargo exported from Armenia amounted to 906,000 tons.
