Armenia offers Russia to sign agreement to circumvent Rome Statute requirements
Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, and member of the board of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party Hakob Arshakyan has said that Armenia has offered Russia to sign an interstate agreement to circumvent the requirements of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
“Several months before the ratification of the Rome Statute, we offered Russia to sign a bilateral agreement for our interstate legal relations not to be checked by international organisations and for ratification not to affect our relations.
We have not received an answer yet, but there is still a lot of time before the Rome Statute comes into force. Legally, we can have an agreement that excludes the application of international court decisions on issues relating to the two countries,” Arshakyan said at a briefing, TASS reports.
