Armenia's European Party leader detained in Yerevan
Leader of the European Party of Armenia Tigran Khzmalyan has been taken to the police department.
He had intended to protest Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
"Four people were brought from Paronyan Street. Article 182 (disobedience to legitimate demands of the police) of the Code of Administrative Offences was applied to them," the press service of the police told the media.
Khzmalyan himself has already posted pictures taken in the police car and the department.
It is worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Armenia for the eighth time. Previously, the Russian leader was in Yerevan in October 2019 to attend the summit of the heads of member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.
This time Putin will take part in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit. The heads of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan will discuss a number of key documents aimed at improving the effectiveness of the structure on November 23.
