Armenia’s ruling party explains its refusal to support opposition's anti-Azerbaijani statement
The parliamentary faction of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party has reacted to the Armenian opposition’s anti-Azerbaijani statement.
Commenting on the document, the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on foreign relations, MP of the ruling party Eduard Aghajanyan, said that there are numerous provisions in the opposition's bill, which coincide with the government’s ideas and approaches.
He made the remarks during the discussion of the draft statement of the Armenian parliament in response to Azerbaijan's parliamentary statement of November 8, 2022, at an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly on December 2, Caliber.Az reports.
According to Aghajanyan, the bill had many provisions, on which the parties could well reach certain agreements. Nevertheless, reaching a final agreement is not an easy task, according to him.
"There were some wordings in which the positions of both sides were fundamentally opposite. The wording proposed by the parliamentary faction of the opposition 'Armenia' bloc is a continuation and repetition of the logic of the pre-war foreign policy," the MP said.
He noted that the wording proposed by the opposition will not contribute to consolidation but, on the contrary, will entail new risks.
