Erdogan to discuss Middle East strategy with Trump
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans to discuss key developments in the Middle East with US President Donald Trump during a scheduled meeting in Washington on September 25.
Speaking to reporters outside the Turkevi Center in New York on September 21, Erdogan emphasised the strategic importance of the region for Türkiye, noting that every action taken in the Middle East carries vital significance, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
Erdogan stated that it is essential to consult with Trump on regional matters, describing the planned discussions as “highly important.” The meeting is expected to cover a broad range of topics, including defence cooperation, arms procurement, and critical international issues such as Palestine, Syria, and Israel’s actions in the region.
Erdogan also revealed plans to meet with Ahmed al-Sharaa, the president of Syria's transitional government. The meeting is set to take place at the Turkish House, located near the United Nations headquarters, where Erdogan is attending the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
