President: Armenia prioritises peace to drive stability and development
During his official visit to New York, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan addressed the 7th meeting of the European Corporate Council, which focused on Africa and the Middle East.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media, he emphasised in his speech: "Peace is the foundation on which development is built and society flourishes."
He explained that after decades of conflict, Armenia has shifted its approach, making peace a central priority. "Only such a concept contributes to growth, development and lifting people out of poverty. It strengthens democracy, gives citizens the right to choose, and enhances freedom, justice, equality and security," Khachaturyan said.
The President highlighted a recent milestone in the peace process: "About a month ago, the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States preliminarily signed an agreement in Washington on establishing peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and adopted a trilateral declaration on the peace process. This important step was made possible by the personal involvement of President Trump and the consistent efforts of his administration, which put an end to a conflict that had lasted three decades. As the great son of Africa, Nelson Mandela, said, ‘Everything seems impossible until it is done.’"
Looking ahead, Khachaturyan stressed that with the foundations of peace established, Armenia's leadership is focused on building a modern, competitive, economically developed, and politically stable state. "Our greatest asset is an educated, hard-working and law-abiding society," he concluded.
