Wildfire spreads rapidly in Türkiye’s Alanya district
A wildfire broke out for unknown reasons in a forested area of the Yaylakonak neighbourhood in Alanya, Türkiye, and quickly spread to the nearby Şıhlar neighbourhood, fueled by strong winds.
In response, multiple emergency teams were deployed to the scene, including water tankers, first aid units, and personnel from the Alanya Forest Management Directorate, fire department, health services, gendarmerie, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), and the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Due to the advancing flames, residents in Şıhlar were evacuated as a precaution. Firefighters successfully evacuated seven individuals from the immediate danger zone. One resident was hospitalised after suffering from smoke inhalation.
Alanya Deputy Mayor Murat Levent Koçak, speaking from the affected area, emphasised that the fire’s rapid spread was driven by strong winds and warned that the flames were approaching populated areas. He assured that emergency teams are actively working to control the blaze and protect residents.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as efforts to contain the fire are underway.
