Erdoğan urges NATO to follow Türkiye’s example in ties with Russia, Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that his relationship with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin has been good since their first meeting.
The Turkish leader came up with such an assessment during an interview with Fox News, urging NATO to follow this example of Türkiye in managing its relations with both Russia and Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports.
The interview also heard Erdoğan saying that he is sceptical that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will end soon, hinting at Europe’s inability to provide economic assistance to Ukraine "forever."
For the record, Türkiye adopted a unique role in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, acting as a mediator while maintaining ties with both nations. As a NATO member, Türkiye balances its alliance obligations with independent diplomacy, including energy and trade agreements with Russia and military support for Ukraine, such as drone supplies.
