Armenia signals continued dialogue with Russia despite strained relations
Armenia remains interested in maintaining dialogue with Russia and expects bilateral contacts to take place in the near future, Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan said.
Speaking to reporters, Safaryan reaffirmed Yerevan's commitment to continuing engagement with Moscow when asked about the current state of Armenian-Russian relations, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
"We are interested in dialogue, we are interested in continuing our relations, and contacts will take place in the near future," he said.
His remarks come amid ongoing efforts by both countries to manage ties as Armenia recalibrates aspects of its foreign policy while remaining a member of several Russia-led regional organisations.
Earlier, on June 5, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told TASS on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are expected to receive a report by December 2026 outlining possible options regarding Armenia's membership in the bloc.
