Minister: Armenian cargo can't reach destinations in Iran as transport routes blocked Amid conflict with Israel
Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan has confirmed that some Armenian cargo shipments are currently stuck at the port of Bandar Abbas and on roads within Iran, causing disruptions in trade.
The minister made the remarks during a parliamentary committee meeting on economic issues, where he was addressing questions related to the implementation of Armenia’s 2024 budget, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Papoyan highlighted that difficulties are being experienced both in imports and exports involving Iran, emphasising that these challenges largely lie beyond Armenia’s control. He recalled that the Armenian Foreign Ministry has already issued an official statement expressing hope for a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict, underlining the importance of regional stability for Armenia and its neighbours.
“We are facing obstacles in transporting goods to and through Iran, but we remain hopeful that peace will be restored soon and that we can resume trade routes through friendly Iran as before,” Papoyan said.
