Russia introduces mandatory labelling for electronic goods
New regulations requiring the mandatory labelling of electronic products have come into force across Russia, covering a broad range of consumer and industrial goods.
The new rules fall under the "Honest Mark" initiative. The system applies to items including smartphones, tablets, laptops, lamps, electrical sockets, plugs, relays, and circuit boards, Russian media reports.
Consumers will be able to verify the authenticity and legality of products using a dedicated mobile application linked to the labelling system.
Experts estimate the measure could reduce the share of illegal products on the market by 15–20%. Over the next six years, the legal sector is expected to gain more than 50 billion roubles ($669.1 million) in additional revenue, while the national budget could receive around 20 billion roubles ($267.7 million).
Industry representatives say the initiative will streamline reporting requirements to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and accelerate the introduction of new products, supporting the growth of domestic electronics manufacturing.
