Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas plans 26 exploration wells by 2030
Kazakhstan’s state-owned oil and gas company KazMunayGas plans to drill 26 exploration wells by 2030, the Samruk-Kazyna sovereign wealth fund said.
The company is planning large-scale geological exploration using new technologies, with 23 projects at various stages of preparation included in KazMunayGas’ program.
The potential geological resource is estimated at up to 4.7 billion tonnes of oil equivalent, according to the fund.
In addition to drilling wells, the company plans to conduct 6,250 kilometres of 2D seismic surveys and 2,540 square kilometres of 3D seismic surveys, as well as carry out geochemical studies at 22,000 sites.
A separate area of work will focus on regional studies in the Caspian region. To explore deep-lying subsalt deposits, the company plans to conduct 60,000 kilometres of 2D seismic surveys.
