Over 13,000 cubic metres of fuel oil cleared in Russia's Tuapse
More than 13,000 cubic meters of fuel oil and related mixtures have been collected and removed from multiple sites in Tuapse, according to local authorities, as emergency operations continue following repeated fires linked to drone attacks.
Sergei Boyko, head of the Tuapse municipal district, said that a total of 13,333 cubic meters of fuel oil, as well as fuel oil mixed with debris and water, had been cleared from three affected locations.
“The total grouping of forces and resources amounts to 790 people and 48 units of equipment. 85 people are still staying in city hotels, having been evacuated earlier due to a fire at the oil refinery,” Boyko said in a statement on Telegram.
The clean-up comes amid ongoing incidents at the Tuapse marine terminal, where a new fire broke out on May 1 following a UAV attack. The latest blaze marks the fourth such incident at the site since mid-April.
Emergency crews are continuing efforts to extinguish the current fire. Previous incidents have required extended operations, with one fire taking two days to put out before being fully extinguished on April 30, and another lasting five days before being brought under control.
