Armenian security official sees Baku's proposal on direct negotiations as "enticing"
Andranik Kocharyan, the Head of the Armenian Parliament's Defence and Security Commission, has commented on Baku's proposal to initiate direct talks.
Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media that Kocharyan finds the proposal to be an attractive option for both sides.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had stated the previous day that Yerevan and Baku do not require guarantors while signing a peace treaty, although Armenia insists on having them.
Kocharyan believes that international law can serve as a guarantee for fulfilling the commitments made by both parties. Additionally, an agreement to not initiate hostilities can also be considered as a guarantee. Kocharyan deems the processes of delimitation and demarcation of the border, as well as monitoring mechanisms, to be significant in this context.
