Iran's army on high alert, says general
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, Chief of Staff and Coordinating Deputy of the Iranian Army, has said that Iran’s armed forces remain at a very high level of operational readiness.
Addressing the current state of military capability and preparedness, Sayyari highlighted the key role played by young personnel in strengthening the Army’s combat power, describing them as the backbone of the armed forces, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
He noted that the effectiveness of young servicemen on the battlefield is well documented, citing their distinguished performance during the Sacred Defence as evidence.
According to Sayyari, today’s forces operate with the same spirit while benefiting from advanced training and modern equipment, allowing them to carry out their missions with high efficiency and effectiveness.
Referring to the 12-day “imposed war” waged by the United States and Israel against Iran, Sayyari said the armed forces, alongside the population, demonstrated strong resistance and maintained constant readiness throughout the confrontation.
He added that lessons learned from the conflict led to practical measures, including improved maintenance, enhanced skills, and a continuous elevation of preparedness across various sectors of the military.
Concluding his remarks, Sayyari reiterated that the armed forces’ readiness remains at a very high level and, supported by strong morale, firm belief, and broad public backing, has become an undeniable reality.
On June 13, 2025, Israel launched strikes against Iran at a time when Washington and Tehran were negotiating over Iran's nuclear program. This led to a 12-day armed conflict, which, according to Iranian official data, resulted in the deaths of at least 1,064 people, including military personnel, scientists, and civilians.
The United States was also involved in the conflict, striking three Iranian nuclear facilities. In response, Iran attacked strategic targets, including Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in the region. On June 24, Iran announced the cessation of hostilities.
