Arpachay gravel-sand mixture deposit in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan goes up for auction
The Arpachay gravel-sand mixture deposit in the Sharur district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has been put up for auction.
The deposit covers an area of 4 hectares and contains 200,000 cubic meters of material, the State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy of Nakhchivan told Caliber.Az.
The exploitation term is set at 10 years.
The starting price for the auction is AZN 18,000 (around $10,500), with a deposit requirement of AZN 1,800 (10% of the auction price). The auction will take place on January 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, and the participation fee is set at AZN 540 (approximately $317).
The Arpachay deposit has ore layers varying in thickness from 5.6 to 15 meters. Copper content in the deposit ranges from 0.44% to 1.33%, while molybdenum is found in concentrations from 0.001% to 0.5%. The deposit contains various minerals, including pyrite, chalcopyrite, molybdenite, covellite, bornite, cuprite, and malachite, and is seen as a key resource for potential future mining operations.
Nakhchivan is rich in a variety of mineral resources, including copper, sulfur, salt, marble, and limestone, which are important for the regional economy. The region also boasts significant sulfur and arsenic deposits, such as those in Daridagh, which are used in industrial processes. The mineral wealth of the region, particularly the Arpachay deposit, highlights its potential for boosting the local economy through industries like mining, construction, and chemicals.
