AZAL cargo revenues triple over four years
Revenues from cargo operations at Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) have more than tripled over the past four years, rising by 211% between 2022 and 2025, while the volume of freight carried increased by 170%, the Heydar Aliyev International Airport said.
AZAL has prioritised the development of its cargo business in recent years, achieving steady growth in the sector, Caliber.Az reports.
The airport attributed the faster rise in revenue compared with cargo volumes to enhanced commercial activity, improved pricing strategies, and more effective revenue management.
“This indicates that cargo operations are developing in a structured and systematic manner,” the statement said.
Over the past few years, AZAL has signed more than 30 strategic commercial agreements, expanded cargo sales across all served destinations, and achieved full commercial coverage of its network.
The airline has also intensified network monetisation and market penetration, strengthening cargo as a revenue-generating segment.
Ongoing projects include digitalisation efforts and the transition to new booking systems, which AZAL says will improve operational efficiency and customer service. The airline aims to continue growing its cargo share, viewing it as a sustainable source of income.
