Azerbaijan Airlines adds first Airbus A321neo to fleet PHOTO

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has taken delivery of its first next-generation Airbus A321neo aircraft, marking another step in the carrier's long-term fleet modernisation and expansion strategy.

The aircraft arrived from Hamburg on June 25, bringing AZAL's fleet to include Airbus A319ceo, A320ceo, A320neo and A321neo aircraft, Caliber.Az reports. 

The airline said the addition of the Airbus A321neo will increase passenger capacity on high-demand routes, improve onboard comfort and support the expansion of its route network as it seeks to strengthen its position in the regional aviation market.

The aircraft features Airbus' Airspace cabin design, which includes larger overhead storage bins, larger windows with an integrated dimming system, LED lighting and an intelligent cabin lighting system designed to enhance passenger comfort.

Configured to carry up to 191 passengers, the Airbus A321neo is also equipped with a new-generation in-flight entertainment system and high-speed Wi-Fi, allowing passengers to access digital services throughout their journey.

AZAL said the aircraft offers significant operational and environmental benefits, consuming around 20% less fuel and producing approximately 20% lower carbon dioxide emissions per passenger than previous-generation aircraft while offering a range of up to 7,400 kilometres.

The delivery follows the recent addition of the airline's fourth Airbus A320neo and forms part of AZAL's broader strategy to modernise its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft.

Under its long-term development plan, AZAL aims to expand its fleet to 50 aircraft by 2032 to support the growth of its route network and reinforce its position as one of the leading airlines in the region.
