Azerbaijan, Asian Development Bank advance joint climate action projects

09 May 2026 22:24

Azerbaijan’s Presidential Representative on Climate Issues, Mukhtar Babayev met with Qingfeng Zhang, Senior Director of the Agriculture, Food, Nature and Rural Development Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in relevant areas.

Writing on X, Babayev said the talks focused on responses to growing climate and water-related challenges, including integrated water resource management, climate-resilient agriculture, and regional cooperation.

He noted that discussions also explored opportunities to deepen cooperation with the ADB, as well as potential projects under the Glaciers to Farms (G2F) Regional Program, launched following the declaration adopted at COP29.

“Also emphasized the continued importance of strong engagement by multilateral development banks in advancing the global climate agenda and supporting implementation efforts on the ground,” Babayev concluded.
