Azerbaijan assumes presidency of IOTA Underscores growing international influence
Azerbaijan has taken on the prestigious role of presidency within the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), following the election of Orkhan Nazarli, Head of the State Tax Service, as president for the term 2024-2025.
Gunel Bahramgizi, representing the Media and Communications Department of State Tax Service, expressed the nation's commitment to upholding responsibilities associated with this leadership position, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
Bahramgizi highlighted Azerbaijan's longstanding membership in IOTA since 2002, noting previous representation in the organization's executive board and active involvement in its activities. She emphasized that Azerbaijan's election to the presidency reflects growing recognition and influence on the international stage.
In her statement, Bahramgizi outlined the obligations accompanying the presidency, including strategic decision-making on organizational matters and fostering cooperation with other international bodies. She confirmed Azerbaijan's readiness to host the 29th General Assembly of IOTA in 2025, underscoring the country's role in shaping the future direction of the organization.
The decision to appoint Azerbaijan as IOTA's president was announced during the 28th General Assembly in Budapest, Hungary, reaffirming confidence in Azerbaijan's capability to lead in matters of tax administration across Europe and beyond.
