Azerbaijan-Austria Working Group denounces statement of Austrian Parliament

The Azerbaijani-Austrian Inter-parliamentary Working Group condemned the statement of the Austrian parliament, Caliber.Az reports.

The statement reads of the group reads as follows:

"The Azerbaijani-Austrian Inter-parliamentary Working Group expresses strong protest against the unilateral statement adopted on October 19, 2023, by the Austrian Parliament, which does not objectively reflect the developments in our region, as well as contradicts international legal norms and the neutral position of the Republic of Austria.

We strongly condemn the very adoption of this statement as an act against the efforts to build confidence and peace in the region. This statement fails to take into account that no civilian population has been harmed by the anti-terrorist measures undertaken by Azerbaijan on its own sovereign territory, that Karabakh residents of Armenian origin have voluntarily travelled to Armenia, that Azerbaijan is helping in every possible way the people who have not left Karabakh, that a special portal for the reintegration process has been created and that a special reintegration plan has been announced by the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan.

This statement does not mention the truth about this, it does not cite the relevant facts, it does not mention that the former regional conflict was rooted in Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan, which was followed by armed intervention in our country and occupation of part of its territory, as well as ethnic cleansing of the Azerbaijani population.

All these points and facts accompanied with proofs were brought to the attention of the deputies of the Austrian Parliament during the meeting with them on October 18, 2023. All the questions asked by the Austrian parliamentarians were answered there.

We reject such an unfair attitude shown towards our state. We believe that such statements provoke the revanchist forces in Armenia to act against Azerbaijan and in no way serve the process of normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia".
