Azerbaijan becomes member of UN World Tourism Organization Executive Council PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s membership in the Executive Council of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has been officially approved, the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan reported to Caliber.Az.
The decision was made during the 124th and 125th sessions of the UNWTO Executive Council, held in Riyadh from 7–11 November. The Azerbaijani delegation also participated in the 26th session of the UNWTO General Assembly.
During the assembly, Fuad Naghiyev, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Tourism Agency, met with Ana Carla Machado Lopes, Secretary of Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation between Azerbaijan and Brazil.
Naghiyev also held talks with Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, to discuss bilateral collaboration in the tourism sector.
Additionally, UAE representative Sheikha Nasser Al Nowais was appointed as UNWTO Secretary-General.
