Azerbaijan boosts green energy with Chinese wind generators
In January and February 2025, Azerbaijan imported 33 wind-powered electric generators, totaling approximately $39.9 million.
This marks a significant increase in the import of renewable energy equipment compared to the same period last year, Caliber.Az reports.
In 2024, Azerbaijan imported only two wind generators from China, valued at just $1,940. The current influx of generators continues a trend of reliance on Chinese suppliers, as all of the newly imported generators were sourced from China, similar to last year’s imports.
Azerbaijan and China established diplomatic relations in 1992, and over the past three decades, their partnership has evolved into a stable and strategic cooperation across political, economic, cultural, and technological spheres. This long-standing relationship was elevated in July 2024 with the signing of a Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Astana. The declaration formalised a shared commitment to mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-aggression, and non-interference in internal affairs.
