During a visit to Latin America led by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Minister of Economy, Elnur Aliyev, the two countries held the inaugural meeting of the Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment Cooperation
The Azerbaijani delegation held a series of meetings and events in Brazil to discuss avenues for expanding bilateral collaboration, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Vice-President of Brazil and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, met with Deputy Minister Aliyev.
Both sides highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Brazil and noted the wide potential for increasing trade between the two nations. Trade between Azerbaijan and Brazil reached over $230 million in the first seven months of 2025, more than double the figure for the same period last year.
The Azerbaijani delegation also provided an overview of ongoing domestic reforms. The first session of the Working Group addressed cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade and investment, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, food security, innovation, technology, science and education, as well as tourism, according to the signed protocol.
