Azerbaijan builds 65.27 km of railway tracks
In January-May 2023, new railway lines with a length of 65.27 km have been built in Azerbaijan.
During this period, a major overhaul of the railway was carried out with a length of 10.51 km, and 6.68 km of old rails were replaced with new ones, Report informs per Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY).
At the same time, lateral receiving and departure tracks were repaired on 18 stations.
It should be noted that the total length of the main railway lines in Azerbaijan is 2,960 km, station and other lines - 1,311 km. There are 73 traction substations and 2,068 bridges on these roads.
Some 72 per cent of Azerbaijan’s railways are single track and the other 28 per cent are double tracks. Similarly, 43 per cent or 1,272 km of the total exploitation length of the route is electrified.
About 38 per cent of the length of the railway routes are equipped with full automatic blocks and 16 per cent are equipped with centralised dispatchers.
