Azerbaijan builds biggest power plant of independence period VIDEO/PHOTO

The biggest power plant of the period of Azerbaijan’s independence is being built in the country.

The company is rapidly continuing work at the power plant, the foundation of which was laid in February of 2023, Report informs referring to Azerenerji OJSC.

The construction of a new power plant with a capacity of 1,280 megawatts, being built on the territory of the Azerbaijan Thermal Power Plant in Mingachevir, is being carried out by specialised local companies in Azerbaijan. The control over the construction of the plant is carried out by the Italian consulting company AFRY and the Spanish design company IDOM.

According to AFRY consulting company representative Salih Turan, the work is currently going on two months ahead of schedule: “Once the construction is completed, equipment will be installed.”

In the near future, gas turbines and generators produced by the Italian company Ansaldo Energia will be loaded onto a ship and sent to Azerbaijan.
