Azerbaijan celebrates Youth Day
Youth Day is celebrated in Azerbaijan on February 2, Caliber.Az reports.
The tradition of celebrating Youth Day dates back to the first Youth Forum, which was held on February 2, 1996, and gathered about 2,000 representatives of the younger generation from all regions of the country.
The Forum defined the responsibilities facing State bodies, youth organizations and every youth representative.
The main task set before the relevant organizations was to carry out effective measures for the all-round development of youth, as well as to provide assistance and support for the speedy and effective resolution of youth problems.
The first Youth Forum significantly contributed to the revitalization of youth work in Azerbaijan.
In 1997, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev signed an order declaring February 2, the day of the Forum, as the Day of Youth of Azerbaijan.
Since then, February 2 has been solemnly celebrated in Azerbaijan for the first time among CIS and Eastern European countries.
International Youth Day was established by the UN General Assembly on December 17, 1999, on the proposal of the World Conference of Ministers of Youth Affairs held in Lisbon on August 8-12, 1998.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev shared a publication on his official page on X in connection with February 2 - Youth Day of Azerbaijan.
