Azerbaijan central to growing Turkic solidarity, Turkish lawmaker says
Solidarity among Turkic states is strengthening day by day, according to Shamil Ayrim, head of the Türkiye–Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Ayrim said energy security remains a key strategic priority for the region, highlighting Azerbaijan’s role as particularly significant in ensuring stability, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Türkiye and Azerbaijan have already become one big family, following the concept of ‘one nation, two states’. A sustainable peace is already taking shape in the South Caucasus. Both countries [Azerbaijan and Armenia – ed.] are sparing no effort to achieve lasting peace in the region. Today, the world and our region are going through a very difficult period. On the one hand, there is tension between Iran and Israel; on the other, the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Two influential leaders in the region, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ilham Aliyev, are doing significant work for the future of their peoples and the stability and prosperity of the region. We support all these efforts. Despite the economic difficulties and the military situation in the world, we want to ensure lasting peace in the South Caucasus,” Ayrim emphasised.
He also welcomed Azerbaijan’s liberation of formerly occupied territories, describing it as a moment of “immense joy” shared in Türkiye.
“Azerbaijan has gone through a difficult and challenging period, and we have always sincerely shared in those experiences. In particular, Azerbaijan’s liberation of its occupied territories has sparked immense joy in all of us. The unity, equality, and brotherhood between the peoples of Türkiye and Azerbaijan is truly a bond that has very few parallels in the world. In Türkiye, no other people has been shown such sincere love as the Azerbaijani people. Thanks to this brotherhood, solidarity among the Turkic states is growing stronger day by day,” he said.
Ayrim added that amid ongoing global conflicts, closer cooperation among Turkic nations is becoming increasingly important for regional stability and prosperity.
