Azerbaijan, China deepen tech ties with potential laptop production deal

Shenzhen Hasee Computer Co., a leading Chinese technology firm, is considering the localization of laptop production in Azerbaijan.

The potential move was discussed during a meeting between representatives of the company and AZPROMO, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency, at the China-Azerbaijan Conference on Promotion of Industry and Investment, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

During the meeting, the sides agreed to exchange information regarding market integration strategies and to continue discussions about further collaboration. This meeting follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AZPROMO and Shenzhen Hasee Computer Co. at the China-Azerbaijan Industry and Investment Cooperation Promotion Conference on April 17. The MoU aims to establish a legal framework for the cooperation between the two entities.

The potential localization of laptop production in Azerbaijan could mark a significant step in enhancing the country’s tech industry and strengthening economic ties between China and Azerbaijan. Both sides are optimistic that continued negotiations will pave the way for fruitful business partnerships and local manufacturing opportunities.

To recap, the China-Azerbaijan Industry and Investment Cooperation Promotion Conference was held in Beijing with the backing of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy, the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), the Azerbaijani Trade Representative in China, and the International Cooperation Center of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

Held under the banner “Bridge of Development: Enhancing Industrial and Investment Cooperation,” the conference served as a strategic platform to deepen bilateral economic collaboration and strengthen long-term investment partnerships between Azerbaijan and China.

Gathering approximately 250 participants — including senior government officials, prominent investors, and business leaders — the event sought to foster dialogue, cultivate mutual confidence, and promote sustainable cooperation.

The conference was dedicated to showcasing Azerbaijan’s favorable investment landscape, outlining opportunities for foreign capital, presenting institutional support frameworks, and facilitating direct engagement between Azerbaijani and Chinese enterprises.
