Azerbaijan, China’s CITIC group discuss prospects of cooperation

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov has met with Benjamin Bao, Vice-President of China’s CITIC Group, to discuss potential areas of cooperation, the ministry has announced.

It said the meeting between the officials focused on opportunities for cooperation on an artificial intelligence computing platform planned for development in Baku, Caliber.Az reports.

“One of the issues discussed was the possibility of attracting CITIC Group as a potential partner, including in financing and construction and installation works as a participant in the platform, whose phased implementation envisages an initial capacity of up to 1 GW,” the ministry added.

The sides also discussed potential cooperation within AZCON Holding projects in transport, communications and the National Artificial Intelligence Centre.

CITIC Group is one of China’s largest state-owned companies, operating across five business areas: banking and non-bank financial services, industrial manufacturing, advanced materials and new-type urbanisation.

The company’s total assets amount to around $1.5 trillion.
