Azerbaijan condemns terrorist attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks carried out in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
“We strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry’s official Facebook page.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and express our sincere sympathy to the brotherly people and the Government of Pakistan. We wish a speedy and full recovery to those injured,” it added.
The ministry also reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s solidarity with Pakistan, stressing its firm support for international efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Azerbaijan and Pakistan maintain close friendly relations, with Baku consistently expressing support for Islamabad in the face of security challenges.
On January 31, 2026, coordinated suicide bombings and armed assaults in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan killed 33 people, including civilians, while security forces killed 92 attackers in retaliation. The attacks, targeting civilians, a high-security prison, police stations, and paramilitary posts, were described by analysts as the deadliest for militants in decades.
While Baloch separatists and the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) regularly target security forces, assaults of this scale are uncommon. Authorities reported that at least 133 militants were killed across Balochistan over 48 hours, with 92 deaths occurring on January 31 alone. Pakistan’s military and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi claimed the attackers received support from India, although New Delhi has denied such allegations in the past.
