Azerbaijan, Croatia to launch experience exchange in tax administration
On June 20, 2025, Azerbaijan and Croatia discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in taxation during a meeting in Baku between Orkhan Nazarli, head of Azerbaijan’s State Tax Service (STS), and Božidar Kutlesa, director of Croatia’s Tax Administration.
According to the STS, the meeting was held on the sidelines of the 29th General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), Caliber.Az report, citing domestic media.
The discussion focused on the importance of sharing expertise in several key areas, including the modernisation of tax administration systems, the development of digital tax services, the implementation of risk-based audit models, and enhancing transparency within tax processes.
Nazarli expressed confidence that collaboration and the exchange of best practices between the two tax authorities would support the advancement and refinement of both nations’ tax systems.
Kutlesa, in turn, remarked that Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts in digital transformation and administrative modernisation could provide valuable insights for Croatia.
He emphasised that this cooperation holds strategic value in enhancing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of tax administration in both countries.
