Azerbaijan cuts electricity exports to Georgia
Azerbaijan has reduced electricity exports to Georgia by 70.1 per cent from January to March 2024.
In the first quarter of 2024, electricity supplies from Azerbaijan to Georgia in quantitative terms totalled over 350 million kWh, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.
In value terms, these supplies totalled nearly $18 million, having decreased by 75.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Georgia accounted for 48.8 per cent of the total volume of energy flows from Azerbaijan in the specified period.
According to the Committee, the total volume of electricity exports from Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2024 was over 718 million kWh (70 per cent decline). In monetary terms, the exports in the first 3 months made up nearly $41 million (85.6 per cent decline). At the same time, supplies were made to 4 countries: Georgia, Iran, Türkiye and Russia. Georgia, Türkiye and Russia were among the top 3.
Electricity imports from Georgia to Azerbaijan in the reported period totalled over 12.6 million kWh (9.2-fold growth). The monetary amount made up $821,520 (also 9.2-fold growth). Georgia accounted for 28.9 per cent of total electricity imports in the mentioned period.
