31 July 2026 18:32
Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers has designated a section of the country's sector of the Caspian Sea as a renewable energy (RE) zone, according to a decree signed by Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
Under the decision, a 711.4-square-kilometre area of the Caspian Sea has been designated for the implementation of renewable energy projects in order to make more efficient use of the country's renewable energy potential in electricity generation, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Once the decision enters into force, permits for the construction of wind power plants in the designated area will be issued in accordance with the procedures established by Azerbaijani legislation.
