Azerbaijan earns nearly $30 million from fertiliser exports
Azerbaijan saw a sharp contraction in mineral fertiliser exports in the first quarter of 2026, while import values rose significantly despite lower volumes, according to official statistics.
Between January and March, the country exported 81,874.6 tonnes of mineral fertilisers, a 49.2% decline compared with the same period in 2025, Caliber.Az reports.
The total value of exports fell by 39.8% year on year to $28.87 million, reflecting weaker external demand and/or lower pricing dynamics in the sector.
At the same time, fertiliser imports totalled 47,004.4 tonnes, down 7.5% on a yearly basis.
However, the value of those imports increased by 41.9% to $28.70 million, suggesting higher unit costs or a shift towards more expensive product categories.
