Azerbaijan, EBRD discuss green future of country UPDATED
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has met with Managing Director of Climate Strategy and Delivery at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Harry Boyd-Carpenter.
The minister hailed Azerbaijan's successful cooperation with the EBRD and emphasized the importance the country attaches to the development of cooperation with the Bank. The projects implemented jointly with the EBRD accelerate the mastering of best practices on sustainable development and the introduction of the state-of-the-art technologies and innovations. Holding COP29 in Azerbaijan will give impetus to the development of cooperation with the Bank on global climate strategies, the ministry told Caliber.Az.
EBRD representatives emphasized interest in continuing fruitful partnership with Azerbaijan. It was noted that the Bank supports the projects implemented in Azerbaijan on green energy transition and expansion of application of renewable energy sources.
The sides discussed the preparatory work for the forthcoming COP29 in Azerbaijan, establishing a dialogue with international organizations, and effective regulation of resources to ensure energy efficiency.
