21 November 2025 11:46

Azerbaijan and Israel have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation during the fourth session of the Azerbaijan-Israel Intergovernmental Commission, held in Israel on November 20.

According to the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, cited by Caliber.Az, the meeting brought together government officials and business leaders from both countries to review ongoing collaboration and explore new areas for partnership.

Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy and co-chair of the joint commission, described the relationship with Israel as strategically important and emphasised the country’s interest in further expanding cooperation.

“Our relations in economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other fields have developed dynamically over the past three decades. Trade and economic ties with Israel are also expanding. There is an effective investment partnership between our countries. The joint commission is an important platform for further deepening cooperation,” Jabbarov said.

He highlighted that 125 commercial entities with Israeli capital currently operate in Azerbaijan, spanning industries such as industry, agriculture, construction, trade, and services. In addition, Azerbaijani and Israeli companies are actively collaborating in finance, food technology, agriculture, and healthcare, contributing to the diversification and technological development of Azerbaijan’s economy.

Jabbarov also pointed to untapped potential in sectors including agriculture, food, water and energy technologies, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology, while outlining opportunities available to investors and progress made in attracting foreign direct investment.

From the Israeli side, Zeev Elkin, Minister in the Israeli Ministry of Finance and co-chair of the commission, emphasised the importance of the meeting for strengthening bilateral relations and identifying new avenues for collaboration.

“The meeting covered bilateral relations, cooperation in energy, trade, investment, agriculture, transport, digitalisation, and other areas of mutual interest,” the ministry said.

The forum also reviewed ongoing projects, discussed investment opportunities, and explored ways to leverage strategic cooperation for regional growth.

The session concluded with the signing of the protocol of the fourth joint commission meeting, marking another step toward enhanced economic, technological, and diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and Israel.
