Azerbaijan, EU sign document on strategic partnership in field of energy

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has described reliable cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan in the field of energy as "the big asset".

"The issues energy security, today, is more important than ever before, And long-lasting, predictable, and very reliable cooperation between EU and Azerbaijan in the field of energy of course is the big asset," Aliyev said at an expanded meeting with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan on July 18, according to Caliber.Az.

The president said this after a ceremony to sign a Memorandum of understanding on a strategic partnership in the field of energy between the European Union and Azerbaijan, and added that "today we have had very good discussions on a broad range of issues of mutual interest".

"This year we started an energy dialogue between the EU and Azerbaijan which covers many areas including oil, gas, renewables, hydrogens, energy efficiency and other issues," Aliyev said.
