Azerbaijan exports 12.9 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe via TAP in 2024
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, announced that 12.9 billion cubic meters of gas were exported to Europe this year through the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), marking another significant milestone in the country’s energy exports.
In a statement posted on his social media page on X, Shahbazov highlighted the growing success of the pipeline, which has been operational for four years. “It has been four years since Azerbaijan started exporting gas to Europe via TAP. During this period, a total of 42.8 billion cubic meters of gas have been supplied to Europe through TAP,” Shahbazov said, Caliber.Az reports.
He went on to note the continued importance of the project for both Azerbaijan and its European partners. “This year, 12.9 billion cubic meters of gas have been exported to Europe under both short-term and long-term contracts,” he added, underscoring the role of TAP in diversifying Europe’s energy sources.
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline, which connects Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz gas field to Europe, has been a key part of the Southern Gas Corridor, designed to reduce European reliance on Russian energy supplies.
