Azerbaijan exports over 6 billion cubic metres of gas to Europe In first half of 2024
Azerbaijan has significantly boosted its gas exports to Europe, reaching approximately 6.4 billion cubic metres in the first half of 2024.
Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov made a post on his X account, highlighting the information, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The data reveals that from January to June, Azerbaijan's gas exports saw a notable increase, with substantial volumes directed to key markets. During this period, 5 billion cubic metres of gas were exported to Türkiye, while Georgia received 1.3 billion cubic metres.
A significant portion of the gas exported to Türkiye, amounting to 2.8 billion cubic metres, was transported via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP). This pipeline is a critical component of the Southern Gas Corridor, designed to enhance energy security and diversify gas supplies to Europe.
Minister Shahbazov highlighted that gas exports in the first six months of 2024 increased by about 6 per cent compared to the same period last year, reflecting Azerbaijan's growing role as a key energy supplier in the region.
