Azerbaijan facilitates new Russian wheat transit to Armenia

A freight train carrying Russian wheat departed on August 6 from the Bilajari station operated by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, continuing to Armenia via Azerbaijan as part of the regional transit corridor.

The train consists of 14 freight wagons transporting a total of 979 tons of wheat, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The shipment will travel through the Boyuk Kasik railway station on Azerbaijan's border with Georgia before continuing onward to Armenia.

The latest shipment adds to the growing volume of cargo transported from Russia to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory. To date, the transit route has handled more than 36,000 tons of wheat, approximately 9,000 tons of fertilizers, 1,136 tons of propane, 133 tons of aluminum, 414 tons of anthracite, and 67,000 tons of timber.

In addition to serving as a transit corridor, Azerbaijan has also exported energy products directly to Armenia, including around 15,000 tons of diesel fuel and approximately 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline.
