Azerbaijan food safety officials to visit Russia for agricultural cooperation talks
Officials from Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency (AFSA) are set to visit Russia following discussions on expanding agricultural trade and improving export procedures between the two countries.
According to the Azerbaijani agency, the agreement was reached during a phone conversation between AFSA Chairman Goshgar Tahmazli and Sergey Dankvert, head of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor), Caliber.Az reports.
The talks, initiated by the Russian side, focused on mutual supplies of agricultural products, veterinary and phytosanitary controls, and the integration of digital information systems in the sector.
AFSA said that cooperation on integrating phytosanitary systems had already been successfully completed.
The two officials also discussed possible joint work on the development and production of veterinary medicines.
As part of efforts to strengthen cooperation, AFSA representatives will travel to Russia in the coming weeks to examine Russian practices and experience in food safety regulation.
