Azerbaijan, Georgia discuss cooperation on food security Photo

06 May 2026 19:29

Azerbaijan and Georgia have discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in the field of food security.

The talks between Goshgar Tahmazli, Head of Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency and Giorgi Iakobashvili, the head of Georgia’s National Food Agency, also focused on import, export and transit controls for food products, as well as measures to combat pests, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

During a meeting, the sides noted that the recognition of the equivalence of Georgia’s control system in August last year has contributed to the expansion of trade between the two countries.

The decision allows Georgian companies producing high-risk goods to export them to Azerbaijan without additional assessment procedures.

Iakobashvili said there is potential for further expansion of cooperation.

The parties also addressed other issues and outlined steps to strengthen bilateral coordination.
