Azerbaijan, Germany mull green transformation, economic cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has met with Executive Director of the German Eastern Business Association Michael Harms on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The sides underscored the significance of the high-level German-Azerbaijani business dialogue on "Green Transformation," which was held within the COP29 framework, Caliber.Az reports.
The event was jointly organized by Azerbaijan’s Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) and the German Eastern Business Association. They emphasized the importance of further developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany across various economic sectors, including industry, trade, investment, and the promotion of renewable energy projects.
The meeting also highlighted the active role of German companies in Azerbaijan’s economy, focusing on strengthening the business partnership between the two countries. Key areas of cooperation, particularly in the renewable energy sector, were discussed as potential avenues for further collaboration.
Minister Jabbarov presented information on the main initiatives being undertaken as part of Azerbaijan's contribution to global climate efforts within the COP29 context. Azerbaijan’s “green” projects and its role in advancing global sustainability initiatives were acknowledged and praised during the discussions.
Both parties expressed a shared interest in developing deeper economic relations and strengthening business and trade ties between Azerbaijan and Germany, with a focus on the transition to green energy and sustainable industrial practices.
