Azerbaijan highlights role in Black Sea security at EU meeting PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev has attended a high-level European Union meeting on “Interregional Security and Connectivity” in Luxembourg.
The meeting, held on October 20, brought together EU officials, including High Representative Kaja Kallas, Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Sikela, foreign ministers from EU member states, as well as senior representatives from the Eastern Partnership, Türkiye, and Central Asian countries, Caliber.Az reports via the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
During the discussions, Rafiyev emphasised the importance of peace and security in the wider Black Sea region, highlighting Azerbaijan’s role in supporting regional stability and the ongoing peace process with Armenia.
He also drew attention to Azerbaijan’s strategic location along key transport corridors linking the Black Sea to the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Rafiyev stressed that the country’s capabilities in transport, energy, and digital connectivity make it a reliable partner for the EU, and that closer economic and investment cooperation could unlock the region’s full potential.
The meeting focused on promoting regional stability, resilience, and interconnectivity, underlining the EU’s commitment to fostering collaboration across the Black Sea and neighbouring regions.
