Azerbaijan, IAEA discuss nuclear energy cooperation
The Azerbaijani Energy Ministry and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have discussed the cooperation issues as part of Azerbaijan's plans about green energy transition to explore the potential use of nuclear energy.
“We had a fruitful meeting with Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA] in Rome. In the context of Azerbaijan's Green Energy Transition plans, we discussed cooperation between the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry and IAEA in the direction of exploring the opportunities of using nuclear energy. We also shared our views on the holding of the event Financing of Low Carbon Technologies, including Nuclear Energy within COP29,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the minister’s message on X.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) serves as the primary global platform for intergovernmental collaboration in nuclear science and technology. Its mission is to promote the safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear technologies, supporting international peace, security, and advancing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
