Azerbaijan, IAEA discuss partnership opportunities, clean energy

14 November 2025 19:17

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov met in Baku with Jonathan Herbach of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to discuss promising areas of cooperation.

The discussion focused on Azerbaijan’s plans in the field of clean energy and on strengthening its partnership with the IAEA, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Energy.

During the meeting, it was noted that the priority titled "Clean Environment and a Country of Green Growth" has been adopted as one of the five national socio-economic development priorities for the coming decade.

In this context, special attention will be given to the implementation of eco-friendly technologies and the promotion of clean energy sources. It was also emphasised that Azerbaijan is actively implementing projects to develop green energy and diversify its energy supply, the ministry stated.

The sides also reviewed the current state of cooperation with the IAEA under the Memorandum of Understanding on energy planning signed in Baku during COP29, as well as future cooperation areas and the development of the legal framework.

Both sides agreed to continue consultations.
