Azerbaijan, ICAO sign agreement to support “green” aviation initiatives

An agreement has been signed regarding International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) support for the Alat Airport Administration in the green certification process of the “Silk Way Cargo Village”, and the airport project located in the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ), Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport announced.

The Azerbaijani delegation is participating in an ICAO symposium. In particular, the opening ceremony of ICAO’s 5th Global Implementation Support Symposium took place in Marrakech. Azerbaijan is represented by a delegation led by Deputy Minister Samir Mammadov.

The event serves as a platform for achieving ICAO’s long-term strategic goals, addressing common implementation challenges, and promoting sustainable aviation.

Within the framework of the symposium, a ministerial roundtable was held with the participation of representatives from more than 40 countries.

A high-level meeting also adopted a document titled “Call to Action,” focusing on the sustainable and stable development of aviation.
